Position: Writer/Producer

Job Status: Regular- Full time

Location: 80 Patina Rise SW, Calgary, Alberta   (CTV Calgary)

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours a week. Overtime as required

This position plays a key role for our daily line-up and requires someone who is thorough and accurate. An excellent communicator with a sense of priority and very strong organization and leadership skills. He/she will have the ability to take initiative in a deadline driven environment and act on behalf of the Sr. Producer when needed.

Responsibilities:   

• Working closely with Producers, Mult Media Journalists and studio personnel in order to support their editorial needs
• Writing for newscasts and assist in the coordination of field staff
• Researching, interviewing and desk-top editing as required
• Adapting to rapidly changing new programming situations
• Assist with cast producing and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in television/broadcast journalism.
• Demonstrated writing skills and producing skills an asset
• Good knowledge of industry practices and procedures regarding news production and writing and desktop editing. Previous producer experience would be preferred.
• Excellent research, analytical and communication skills.
• Very strong creative abilities and leadership skills.
• Strong editorial sense. Thoroughness, accuracy, a sense of priority. Ability to take initiative, responsibility as well as consult with the team.                          
• Ability to deal with multiple demands and pressure of on-air deadlines and corollary need to make immediate and sound decisions.

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
