Reporting to the SMC supervisor, the Warehouse Technician (WT) is responsible to perform general warehousing duties such as stocktaking, maintaining and purchasing sufficient stock, stocking shelves and bins (including driving a forklift) and recording purchases, returns and completed orders in a Management Information System. The Warehouse Technician is responsible to coordinate international and domestic shipping, to assist in the procurement of spare parts, including but not limited to internet searches and liaising with Original Equipment Manufacturers, and to identify parts and materials, in consultation with a senior technologist, for return to a client warehouse or for scrap.
This position will be involved with the following activities:
Control inventory,
Issue and receipt of parts,
Assist in the procurement of spare parts,
Liaise with Service Providers and Suppliers,
Oversee shipping domestically and internationally,
Perform stocktaking and audits,
Maintaining a pre-existing electronic filing system,
Scanning documents and filing into applicable electronic storage area,
Interacting with project management, engineering and operations staff to provide spare parts to carry out tasks onboard vessels.

What will you contribute?
High school diploma with a minimum three years working in a warehouse with knowledge of inventory control systems and forklift operations is required.
Must hold a valid Forklift Operator’s certificate.
Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically intermediate excel, word processing, databases and internet savvy.
Demonstrated experience in warehouse work with knowledge of inventory control systems and forklift operations.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Must hold a valid Forklift Operators certificate.
Ability to obtain a security clearance of Enhanced Reliability Status.
Fluent in English and able to communicate verbally and in writing.
Training and experience in safe work practices including first aid, personal protective equipment, WHMIS, etc.
Minimum of three years’ experience in warehousing and inventory control.
Marine mechanical or electrical background would be an asset.
Procurement experience would be an asset.
Physical requirements -
Maintain good health & wear personal protective equipment including hard hats, safety glasses, safety gloves, work boots, and other PPE as may be required.
Able to climb steps, ladders, shipboard ladders, and scaffolding to stock multi-level shelves.
Able to remain on your feet for extended periods (five hours or longer).
Able to work in various weather conditions (rain / cold / snow / etc.).
Long periods of standing.
Some overtime may be required on an as required basis.
Capable of lifting 15kg regularly.
Long periods of computer work.
