What you will learn and contribute to
The successful candidate:
Will work in a team of talented software engineers, accountable for releasing high quality software for the new generation of Nokia's high performance core and edge routers.
Has diverse interests in multiple engineering disciplines encompassing both electrical and computer engineering.
Must be willing to relocate to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Responsibilities:
Develop and automated test cases to validate new s/w infrastructure and features for the Linux based Service Router.
Test support for customer developed applications on the product.
Test layer 3, VPN and routing protocols.
Stress / scale / performance testing.
Interopability testing.
Work closely with testers and developers to investigate and resolve bugs.
Monitor automated regression tests to ensure that new code does not break existing functionality.
Plug testing holes using automation for any defects found by customers or external entities.
Build test networks, work with cutting-edge hardware and use test equipment for traffic generation and protocol emulation.
Your skills and experience
Years of experience with testing layer 3, VPN and IP routing protocols
Solid experience with VPN, multicast routing, OSPF, BGP, segment routing, and underlying transport layers
Experience with various L2/L3 traffic generation tools
Experience with Linux, Dockers, Containers, Virtualization
Solid programming skills (specifically Python).
Experience with test automation environments
A curiosity to learn, reverse engineer, and tear apart a feature or a design
Strong analytical / troubleshooting skills.
Quick learner, self starter, able to work independently.
Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
A solid understanding of computer h/w architectural building blocks.
Experience using source control software (Git).
Experience coding large s/w projects.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Obsessive attention to detail.
A strong passion for quality
Key skills:
Experience in non-proprietary VM environments such as Dockers
Experience with Open Config environments such as gNMI and Telemtry
Solid programming skills, in particular Python, but transferable to other languages.
Experience with Windows and/or Linux based PCs.
A curiosity to learn, reverse engineer, and tear apart a feature or a design (i.e., research and understand your feature area inside and out in order to test it thoroughly).
Strong analytical / troubleshooting skills.
Quick learner, self starter, able to work independently.
Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Knowledge of routing, VPN, multicast, virtualization and transport protocols
Experience using source control software (CVS, Git).
Experience coding large s/w projects outside of typical school projects.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
Obsessive attention to detail.
A strong passion for quality
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Candidates with Bachelors in Computer Engineering / Network Engineering is more relevant. Masters degree a plus.
