Were looking for a highly motivated, hardworking and experienced engineer who is passionate about manual and automation test activities and is ready to assume a leadership position within the team in addressing future projects.

What will you do at Ciena?

Engage engineering teams, product line managers and product owners to transform high-level requirements into optimized test coverage.

Develop test strategies to fully exercise Packet Optical Transport product; System level, Routing and Switching, Provisioning, Performance and Scale, Fault management, Network traffic integrity.

Execution and Delivery of Manual and Automation end-to-end feature testing, tracking testing using Agile. Due diligence to ensure complete feature coverage, availability of required test environment (i.e., traffic generators, cards, system set up and ready), and the testing is within given quality parameters.

Analyze test results and prepare test reports.

Investigate software defects, highlight critical issues, and advise software development engineers in finding a resolution.

Share your experience while mentoring more junior members of the team.

You will be responsible for becoming the local subject matter expert for the features you are testing; related standards knowledge and customer requirements.

Provide support for Field Engineers through software upgrades, execution of the assigned test cases, debugging and collecting log files.

From time to time, ownership of internal/external customer prototype demonstration. Assist in standardization and interoperability lab testing.

Develop customer deliverable requirement use cases. Interact with PLM, architects and release managers to harden requirements. Understand the landscape of competitive usage of a feature.

Contribute to IETF and company's intellectual properties (Patents, White papers). Monitor industry standards and data application trends & alert senior management of potential roadblocks in product development

Required Skills:

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills associated with service provider, enterprise and carrier software solutions in general.

Excellent written (documentation) and interpersonal communication skills (English).

Strong abilities to work as part of a team or independently with little supervision.

Strong abilities to rapidly learn new complex technological concepts and apply knowledge in daily activities.

Knowledge and experience working with UNIX/Linux/RHEL/Ubuntu and/or any other server OS, be it on bare metal and/or Virtual Machine, and system admin functions.

Knowledge and experience working with system level, Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols (like MPLS, IGP, BGP, Segment Routing, EVPN etc).

Knowledge and/or work experience with Python, Java, JavaScripting, CORBA, TCL/TK/Expect, Oracle, WebLogic and/or REST API and associated tools is highly desirable.

Knowledge and/or work experience related to network virtualization software like Open vSwitch, vRouter, etc. is highly desirable.

Knowledge and/or experience working with Layers 2 and/or 3 technologies on Cienas CES, 54XX and/or 6500 platforms would be an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

BS/MS degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or equivalent

4 years of dynamic experience in System & Networking Testing role

Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C , C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, or Go.

Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.

Experience in development environments GIT, Jenkins, Perforce, Clearcase, etc

Experience working in Agile and Waterfall models of development

Experience in both manual and automated testing environments
