What you will do

The Information Tower is responsible for managing NZDFs information platforms, including content and document management systems, workflows, and reporting.  We work closely with other product teams, NZDF customers and business owners to deliver value to the NZDF.

As a Solution Designer, you will be responsible for the technical detailed design for our information systems that are managed by the Information Tower.

You will provide design guidance and oversight to members of your team and other teams you interact alongside. You will understand user, functional and non functional requirements to design new solutions that meet our customers needs.

You will work closely with Domain and Enterprise Architects, Product Designers and members of your, and other teams to deliver solutions that are compliant with the organisations standards, policy and security obligations.

You will also appreciate and be able to articulate the non-technology aspects of proposed solutions in order to provide the complete picture to decision makers and understanding current state to inform future design cycles and continuous improvement, as articulated by blueprints and roadmaps.

What we need

Technical knowledge of or exposure to a combination of the following:

• SharePoint or other content management system, workflow and reporting tools solution design experience (essential);
• Solid understanding of M365;
• Solid understanding of Azure or AWS cloud products/services (nice to have);
• Data management project experience and good understanding of current business intelligence technology (nice to have);
• Understand the financial and Service Level implications of design decisions;
• Developing technologies that meet availability and business continuity requirements (essential).

Additional skills and experience in or knowledge of:

• Designing detailed solution architectures for content management systems;
• Identifying and incorporating Information management requirements into Solution Designs;
• Working in classified or commercially sensitive environments (desirable);
• Emerging technology monitoring;
• Understanding of IT security requirements, especially familiar with NZISM and PSR.

A qualification or certification in cloud architecture is desirable.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

• You must have been an NZ Citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for 10 years.
• You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSSV) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have 15 years of verifiable background history in countries where a meaningful background check can be undertaken and assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
