To provide leadership and management for the Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Team who have a focus across the greater Wellington region. Leading this diverse team to continue to grow and contribute to Government and District Health Board priorities. Working with the Manager Service Delivery, Team Leaders and other members of the Health Promotion Cluster to provide leadership.

Our team is made up of passionate public health advisors who work across the issues of tobacco, alcohol and drugs.  We adopt a broad approach using regulatory and promotional activities to raise awareness of alcohol issues, promote and support effective alcohol policies and seek to improve accountability in alcohol retailing. We focus on tobacco and vaping in many areas including legislation enforcement, supporting Smokefree/vape free policies and supporting quit facilitation for smokers. Our CAYAD team uses a community action approach, a strategy for creating community-based change towards specific social and environmental policy objectives at a national and community level.

We are looking for applicants with;

• Previous people leadership and management experience
• Proven ability to inspire and motivate staff and build strong effective networks with colleagues
• Proven experience in business processes
• An understanding of health inequalities and the wider determinants of health
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and ability to apply this in your work
• Ability to work across cultures in a way that respects and values diversity
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Ability to establish and maintain effective inter-sectoral, strategic and community relationships
