Job Description

The Finance Area, Schulich School of Business, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a teaching stream tenure-track appointment in Finance at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The starting date is July 1, 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval. The Finance Area offers various courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. The Area also oversees the Master of Finance (MF) program. The successful candidate will be assigned to teach no more than seven 3-credit courses primarily in the BBA, MBA, and/or the MF Program. The successful candidate will be engaged in teaching, curriculum development, curricular program leadership, and dissemination of pedagogical and managerial-relevant knowledge to the academic business communities. A record of teaching excellence, effective curricular innovations, strong curricular program leadership, and continual engagements with relevant academic and business associations is required. The candidate should have a PhD in Finance or related field from an accredited academic institution. Preference is given to those whose Ph.D. is from a business school with AACSB, Association of MBA, or EQUIS accreditation. The successful candidate should have a record with: 1. Evidence of teaching excellence, as demonstrated through the teaching statement and formal student evaluations of teaching. Anonymous student comments are welcome, as long as these are captured through formal teaching evaluation processes. 2. Evidence of development and implementation of innovative teaching approaches and learning experiences, as demonstrated in peer-reviewed writeups in pedagogical journals. 3. Evidence of curriculum program leadership for Finance Area specializations in the BBA, the MBA, or MF Programs. 4. Evidence of successful engagements with the business community as demonstrated through organized services to disciplinary associations (e.g., leading the pedagogical sessions for academic conferences) and publications in practitioner journals. 5. Evidence of service contributions in administrative and/or committee work in academic settings. 6. At least three letters of references attesting to the above. York University has a policy on Accommodation in Employment for Persons with Disabilities and is committed to working towards a barrier-free workplace and to expanding the accessibility of the workplace to persons with disabilities. Candidates who require accommodation during the selection process are invited to contact Professor Ambrus Kecskes, Chair of the Finance Search Committee, at finance-hire@schulich.yorku.ca. York University is an Affirmative Action (AA) employer and strongly values diversity, including gender and sexual diversity, within its community. The AA Program, which applies to women, members of visible minorities (racialized groups), Aboriginal (Indigenous) people and persons with disabilities, can be found at http://acadjobs.info.yorku.ca/ or by calling the AA line at 416-736-5713. Applicants wishing to self-identify as part of York University's Affirmative Action program can do so by downloading, completing and submitting the form found at: http://acadjobs.info.yorku.ca/affirmative-action/self-identification-form/. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens, permanent residents and Indigenous peoples in Canada will be given priority. No application will be considered without a completed mandatory Work Status Declaration form which can be found at http://acadjobs.info.yorku.ca/affirmative-action/work-authorization-form.
