What is the opportunity?
Analyst will be expected to perform a number of critical Tax Operations functions related to the on-boarding of new and/or existing clients and local management of the collection. The team is aligned with other functional units within RBC CM that currently support RBC CM’s businesses. This individual will report to the Tax Operations Manager of the respective functional department.
What will you do?
- Ensure local compliance of tax obligations (compliance, advisory, planning) regarding the identification, tax treatment, withholding and reporting of transactional and operational taxes, particular to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), OECD Common Reporting Standards (CRS), Chapter 3/61 and Qualified Intermediary (QI).
- Undertake day to day activities of the Tax Operations Team for RBC CM business Units, which includes, but not limited to, key-in critical Tax Information; assist with Tax Ops projects; and respond to ad hoc requests.
- Contact clients to obtain updated tax documentation declaring status under FATCA and CRS, when necessary
- Provide support to the front office and to external clients for tax documentation related queries.
- Perform documentation remediation work as needed with direction from Tax Documentation Validation and Tax Control Team. Work closely with the business units to obtain updated documentation to prevent withholding on client accounts
- Discuss and address tax documentation issues with Tax Control Team; including account remediation as required
- Resolving client queries and managing front to back exceptions
- Identifying and if necessary escalate high risk items to management
- Management of client outreach data and details received from necessary project teams
- Track client responses and produce metrics per outreach to report statistics and status updates to management as needed
- Establish a best practice approach in ensuring that clients, counterparties and internal business partners receive appropriate attention and that all queries are responded to and resolved in a timely fashion.
- Assisting in the completion of audit preparedness planning and execution
- Support all system testing and drive changes to improve process efficiency.
