 Description:

A note on Assignment Type: This position is currently listed as "Onsite"; however, the consultant will be remote due to COVID-19 related Work from Home (WFH) direction. Once the I&IT cluster staff are required to return to the office, the resource under this request will be required to work onsite as well.

Responsibilities:

·       Provides advice on the testing strategy, test plans, the selection of testing tools, and the identification of resources required for testing.

·       Plans and organizes testing efforts for large systems in Graphical User Interface (GUI) and non-Graphical User Interface (GUI) environments, including the execution of systems integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing (e.g., stress tests).

·       The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the development of test plans, test scripts and test cases and executing these against the various components. The tester will work with the testing lead and IT lead of each project as well as the project team members in the analysis, design, development, implementation and ongoing support of the required systems.

General Skills:

·       Experience in planning, organizing and implementing testing efforts at the specified experience level.

·       Knowledge of structured methodologies for the development, design, implementation and maintenance of applications.

·       Knowledge and experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and data query tools to aid in the development of test cases.

·       Knowledge and experience in the use of automated test tools and version control systems on one or more platforms.

·       Experience executing functional tests, non-functional tests and systems level integration tests.

·       Experience supporting user acceptance testing and participating in UAT activities.

·       Experience with quality assurance principles, practices, tools and structured methodologies.

·       Experience creating testing strategy documentation, test plans, test cases and test data for various types and phases of testing, including technical and business functional validation.

·       Experience in quality assurance and testing, including unit testing, integration testing, load testing, performance testing, etc.

·       Knowledge and experience in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle.

·       Knowledge of one or more automated testing tools.

Desirable Skills:

·       Knowledge and experience in at least one programming language.

·       Experience in the use of information retrieval packages.

·       Knowledge and understanding of testing methods in an object-oriented environment.

·       Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices.

·       Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards.

·       Experience planning and organizing testing efforts for both large and small systems.

·       Experience coding automated test scripts to produce sets of automated test cases.

·       Experience testing Commercial Off-the Shelf Applications (COTS).

Knowledge Transfer

Transfer from Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Senior to Designated CSC Resource

When Knowledge Will Be Transferred:

Knowledge transfer must be completed one week prior to the end of the project or one week prior to the consultant leaving the ministry.

What Knowledge Will Be Transferred:

All deliverables, including design/supporting/release/training documents must be checked into designated version control repositories (for example, SharePoint). All final documents and working drafts related to project requirements or solution design must be stored on designated project repositories (for example, SharePoint site, HPQC, TFS, etc.)

Project manager and designated ministry staff must be regularly informed in writing (by email) of where documentation has been stored and must be provided a minimum of one walk-through of all documentation as part of the final knowledge transfer activities.

How Knowledge Will Be Transferred:

Knowledge will be transferred through 1 on 1 sessions, emails, document updates and document review with the team.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Testing and Methodology Experience - 45%

Experience in manual and automated testing.

Demonstrated experience with Test Automation tools such as QTP (Quick Test Pro) V10.0 and HPQC.

Working knowledge and in-depth understanding of the entire Software Testing processes.

Experience in creating test plans, test scripts, test cases and test scenarios, and reporting defects.

Experience with different types of software testing and testing methodologies.

Experience in manual and automated testing.

Demonstrated experience with Test Automation tools such as Quick Test pro v10.0, HP quality Center.

Experience with Azure DevOps.

Experience working with technical team, business analyst, and business teams to identify gaps in solutions due to missing requirements in current documentation/solution artifacts.

Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Testing Experience - 20%

Experience in testing data warehouses, data marts, ETL processes, web applications, and business intelligence reports.

Demonstrated experience testing BI solutions (e.g., Cognos).

Demonstrated experience working with applications using ETL (e.g. Informatica).

Technical Skills - 25%

Experience with technical skills in SQL, Databases, XML.

Experience using SQL in the context of testing.

Proficiency with desktop tools (MS Office, MS Excel, MS Outlook).

Experience testing for AODA and/or WCAB AA compliance in web applications, preferable experience using screen reader (JAWS) for testing and High Compliance Sherriff tool.

Experience with supporting investigation of production defects, and then testing hotfixes.

Communication and client engagement - 5%

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Experience in dealing with multiple teams representing various areas in delivering the project.

Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with client organizations.
