Job Description

At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education (Te Tāhuhu) we care about building a sustainable future for tomorrow's tamariki and ākonga.   We're looking for an experienced sustainability manager to lead initiatives that make a difference, including helping us achieve carbon neutrality by 2025.

 Mōhou ake | About you

You're a business leader with technical knowledge of all aspects of sustainability, including carbon inventories, emissions reporting and target setting. You're credible, collaborative and able to adapt and apply your knowledge to the needs of the Ministry and the people we serve.

You'll use your influence and leadership skills to develop and connect with a network of sustainability subject matter experts, motivate others, and accelerate sustainability practices at the Ministry.

You've got a record of effectively leading people, work and innovative sustainability initiatives that deliver outcomes, including carbon emissions management.

About our group and team

We are the Business Services team, part of the Te Puna Rangatōpū | Corporate group at the Ministry. As well as leading sustainability work, our team provides essential services such as health and safety, security, privacy, business continuity, emergency management, facilities, vehicle fleet, records and document management, and more.

This role is based in our Wellington office, where you'll work with a small team as part of an inclusive and supportive wider group.
