Support Staff – Receptionist / Administrator Two Part-Time (job share) Roles

22.5 hours per week permanent positions, term time only

St Mary's College Wellington is situated in the suburb of Thorndon in Wellington. We are a state-integrated all-girls Catholic secondary school for years 9-13.

You will be the ambassador of first impressions, joining our support in welcoming, supporting and assisting our school and our community. As a job share, the hours for the two part-time roles are: Monday to Friday 8:00am-12:30pm and 12:00pm-4:30pm. There will also be an opportunity to pick up extra hours to cover sick leave.  This role reports to the Executive Assistant.

A genuine interest in young people, an appreciation of our Catholic character, being friendly and approachable with a ‘can do’ attitude is essential. This role supports our students and staff, so only apply if you are a good communicator, are patient, organised and are able to adapt on your feet when required.

Key attributes are:

  • Prior experience in a busy administrative and/or reception role. The ability to cope well under pressure is essential for this position.
  • A thirst for learning and an ability to adapt quickly in an ever-changing environment
  • Great organisational and time management skills 
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and to go the extra mile.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to learn new programmes.

Key tasks will be:  

  • Reception and front-of-house; answering incoming calls; greeting students, staff, visitors and whānau and ensuring visitors comply with our COVID-19 procedures.
  • Manage deliveries, mail and couriers.  
  • Oversee recycling, office supplies, and stationery. 
  • Updating any changes in student details on the school’s student management system.
  • Assisting with sick bay duties (first aid training will be provided).
  • Assisting the enrolment team in ensuring the school's yearly enrolment process runs smoothly.
  • Cashier duties, including receiving payments and issuing receipts.
  • Provide administrative support for the Principal, Executive Assistant and Senior Leadership Team when required.
  • Assistance with catering and events at the school.

Please Note: In accordance with the Education Act 1989 and the Children’s Act 2014 a police vetting check will be required for this position. Compliance with the Public Health Order on Mandated Vaccination for Covid-19 in schools will also be required. Applicants must have New Zealand residency.
