We are seeking a highly motivated Student and Programme Adviser to join our Professional Programmes team. The programmes are designed for both pre-experience and experienced graduates seeking a professional qualification that will enable them to either kick-start or progress their careers.

Working closely with the Manager – Professional Programmes you will provide professional and effective day to day advice and administration support for international and domestic student recruitment, admissions, and enrolment; programme delivery including cohort management, academic and pastoral advising; delivery of activities to enhance the student experience; internal and external relationship management; and other related administrative functions.

To be successful in the role you will hold a good understanding of how to support students and be confident and comfortable with working autonomously in the complex tertiary environment. Your great interpersonal skills will be an asset to you in the role as it will enable you the opportunity for you to action your interest in community focussed recruitment.

If you are adaptable and have a passion for education and hold an interest in the GSM and its professional programmes, as well as experience that demonstrates strong pastoral and cross-cultural communication skills, we would like to hear from you.

Qualifications/Related experience:

  • Strong preference for applicants with a university degree and at least 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Preference for fluency in second language, in particular Te Reo Māori
  • Customer-facing experience in an academic environment
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • A flexible and innovative approach with the ability to exercise initiative and contribute effectively within a team environment
  • Well-developed organisation and detail-oriented skills with a professional focus on achieving goals and delivering outstanding customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills preferably including experience in delivering professional presentations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
