WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Define end-to-end technical solutions utilizing the Enterprise Workflow Platforms (Pega and Camunda BPM) to factor in enterprise architecture strategy, best practices, current state environment and constraints. Ensure the viability of the solution to meet project timeline, budget and quality.
- Develop and present solution alternatives and lead joint solution design sessions on an ongoing basis with recommendations to stakeholders. This involves a partnership with technical system specialists, business systems analysts and architects from other domain areas as well as business stakeholders and senior management. You will need to assume leadership and the technical teams will look to you for direction.
- Develop Architecture Blueprints to capture Architecture Decisions, Integration and System Context diagrams, Physical, Security & Logical architecture views. Present to senior architects, solicit and incorporate feedback to gain project approval (gating step) for production deployment.
- Develop and maintain the deployment architecture view (defining application servers, databases and integrations) for new/existing applications. This includes leading capacity sizing with vendor/Infrastructure teams for Production and Disaster Recovery/failover environments.
- Participate in RFP/RFI initiatives with external vendors, help evaluate their solutions, and participate in vendor and technology selection. The EBE portfolio consists largely of vendor-developed enterprise-grade applications that are enhanced and integrated to build optimal solutions to address business requirements.
- Raise and document areas of concern, deviation from enterprise architecture standards and other technical and business risks along with recommendations for mitigation. Always maintain a client-first mindset while ensuring that every solution adheres to RBC’s policies, procedures and code of conduct guidelines.
- Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Liaise with Cloud, Integration, Data, Security and Infrastructure Architecture and development/engineering teams to ensure that all solution architecture views are defined and elaborated.
- Continuously learn about other applications and technologies both within RBC and the broader industry. Forums and facilities are provided and you will be encouraged to build your knowledge and enhance your skills on an ongoing basis.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study (Computer Science/Engineering) or other equivalent education with a concentration in computer science or information systems.
- Minimum 10 years of IT experience in development/system analysis with at least 3 years of experience in developing technical solutions.
- Strong communication, documentation and presentation skills, especially to clarify technical/complex concepts and facilitate the understanding of both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A firm working knowledge of a variety of technologies/concepts including J2EE, .NET, packaged applications, mainframe, Cloud, DevOps, Workflow Automation & Business Process Management (BPM), Document Generation and Processing/OCR, APIs, various architecture patterns (multi-Cloud on-prem/hybrid, event-driven, microservice, data & analytics) and deployment.
- Possess good time and project management skills to help juggle multiple priorities. Previous experience in large organizations and/or delivery of large programs would be an asset.
NICE-TO-HAVE:
- Current/previous experience in Solution Architecture in the Financial or other technology-centric industries. Prior hands-on development experience.
- Experience with workflow automation technologies (Pega, Camunda preferred)
- Skillful in negotiation, an ability to influence key decision makers (and a sense of humor when things don’t always go your way)
- Self-starter, capable of taking on new initiatives (without a lot of background) and independently working through the solution as you go
