Sr. Product Owner – Public Cloud
What is the opportunity?
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the Cloud Platform at RBC, building on leading-edge technologies, cloud-native development and innovative data services. As a Product Owner, you will be part of a product-focused Public Cloud platform team, working with our user community across the enterprise to anticipate and define platform needs and features and gain feedback, as we build exciting new features in the cloud computing world.
What will you do?
- Contribute to the development of roadmaps for the services, researching industry trends, best practices
- Create and manage Product Backlog, turn customer requests into actionable user stories
- Identify incremental steps to deliver a product vision and work closely with the engineering team to deliver the implementation.
- Help provide product support to the user community either by directly responding to inquiries or developing support material
- Participate in discussions with technology vendors
- Collaborate with the Program Operations team and Product Managers to develop content for communications and reporting
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
- Excellent technical understanding of public and private cloud technologies
- Experience with modern enterprise software development
- Understanding of cloud-native architectures
- Knowledge of CI/CD tooling, Kubernetes, IaC approach in provisioning and managing IT infrastructure
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and illustrate the business value we provide to our stakeholders
- Commitment to learn, especially on technical details of technologies
- Ability to understand business needs and propose viable solutions that address them, regardless of whether or not the solutions are technical in nature
- Familiar with common agile development methodologies like Scrum and Kanban
Nice-to-have
- Agile Product Owner or Product Management experience
- Working experience in working in a technology or banking-related field
- Experience building cloud native applications or previous software development experience
- Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, Mural and/or Lucidchart
- Experience with public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Experience with database technologies such Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MongoDB
