What is the opportunity?
Provide support for Wealth Management Canada (WM-CA) Operational Risk management leadership, including providing expertise, advice and counsel to management and WM colleagues, enhancing WM Canada’s ability to anticipate and manage operational risks effectively. Support the design and execution of essential Operational Risk programs in WM-Canada including risk and control identification / assessment. Maintain critical linkages with Centres of Governance, 2ND LoD Operational Risk (GRM OR) and other critical areas of dependency for WM-Canada to facilitate the exchange of information and integrated solutions to operational risk issues. Complete operational risk reviews and provides expert feedback on the operational risk impact of major change initiatives, process improvements and transformational projects. Analyze control environment of WM-CA’s businesses, processes, and products to identify gaps and recommend control enhancements to improve the environment.
What will you do?
Execute Risk & Control Assessments (ERCSAs and URCSAs), including working with clients to develop action plans.
Support controls and control assessment and annual attestation to assist lines of business in meeting their ongoing Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) program obligations.
Lead Targeted reviews through planning, execution, reporting and identifying high quality issues reflecting risk and root causes.
Delegate for Head of Wealth Management Global Business Risk and Reporting on Product Risk Review Committee. Review product risk assessments for all new products and periodic risk reassessments as BU-ORM representative
Review and sign off on all integrated risk profile assessments on change initiatives as BU-ORM representative.
Responsible for performing management requested reviews and ad-hoc reporting for senior executives and management team within WM Canada and enabling strategic decision making.
Document and maintain repository of key controls for high risk processes for all WM Canada businesses.
Coordinate IAS audits, gathering of information requests, entrance, updates, and status and exit meetings.
Manage critical WM Canada Team archives and reference material – minutes, operating procedures, guidance documents, and supporting evidence for Operational Risk program.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
Professional designation in Risk and/or Finance such as MBA, CPA, CFA.
University Degree and recognized Industry Qualifications – Industry Securities / Options / Futures/Investment Management or equivalent courses.
5-8 years of combined knowledge, skill and background in operational risk practices, audit or compliance functions, securities operations within one or more businesses in WM or comparable businesses.
Strong problem solving, analytical (including qualitative and quantitative analysis) and research skills are essential as well as advanced desktop skills (e.g. excellent knowledge in application of Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Ability to deal effectively with senior managers and multiple stakeholders.
Strong communication skills and ability to present information effectively
