What is the opportunity?
As the Senior Manager Learning and Instructional Design within the Global IT Risk Awareness and Education (A&E) team, you will be part of group focused on developing, delivering and measuring new ways of learning for RBC, our clients and the general public.
Leading a team of instructional designers, and working with the broader A&E team, your work will help inform about best practices for current and emerging cyber security and IT risks that individuals encounter in day-to-day activities - at work and at home. As a leader in the A&E creative team you will use your design, storytelling and instructional skills to develop our new learning program of short-form behavioural-based content (i.e. microlearning, games, videos, podcasts, etc.)
The work of you and your team will be key to allowing RBC to actively engage with our global audience, providing key knowledge and skills ahead of potential cyber security risks, in a timely, impactful and measurable way. While the role is learning-focused, you will also have an opportunity to help develop and test new methods for predictive learning delivery, skills/ knowledge assessment, measuring learning outcomes as well as vehicles for rewarding learning participation and acknowledging achievements.
This role is global and enterprise-wide with reach across all parts of RBC as well as the markets and people it serves. Within RBC the A&E team has a mandate to innovate and to think beyond traditional corporate training and learning technology approaches. Working as part of this team you have an opportunity to lead and build highly innovative and world-class training content, programs and system within a quickly evolving industry, for one of the top 10 banks in the world.
What will you do?
Lead in the ideation, planning and delivery processes for learning content.
Participate hands-on in the creation of content such as eLearning courses, games, quizzes, software simulations, job aids, facilitator or learner guides, audio scripts, interactive PDFs, PowerPoint presentations.
Coordinate the work of the team to ensure alignment to A&E’s schedules.
Test and validate your team’s content on internal and external education and awareness channels.
Work closely with senior managers and SMEs and share and apply knowledge of adult learning principles and modern learning tools and techniques for the design and delivery of clear, concise, engaging, effective and interactive learning experiences.
Support in developing effective knowledge measurement and metrics, helping to build and utilize skills/ knowledge assignments, quizzes and exams and decision-based scenarios.
Help maintain and upgrade our catalog of learning resources.
Import courses and materials into the Learning Management System and test for form, function and usability.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
10+ years of experience designing and delivering educational material within a large organization.
5+ years of leading creative and or educational teams.
BA/BS degree in Design, Adult Learning and or Instructional Design, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Advanced understanding of the instructional design process, ADDIE model and adult learning principles.
Working knowledge of curriculum design tools such as Articulate Storyline, the Adobe Creative suite of products, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and the Microsoft Office suite of products
Experience with online and classroom course development.
Excellent planning a people management skills, comfortable working within a dynamic environment and able to pivot quickly when needed.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
Strong questioning, consulting and problem-solving skills from both a business and technical perspective.
Creative and open-minded, willing to explore new ideas and possibly fail.
