Supported by the senior manager – transport network architecture, the successful candidate will be responsible for the evolution, the development, the planning and the budget direction for Bell’s regional transport network in Ontario.

 

This career opportunity is for a dynamic and innovative individual that can take on the challenge to understand the evolution of the transport network and optimize the investment in order to improve the network reliability and the availability for our customers.

 

The candidate will:

  • Evolve the transport network architectures to support new services and increase network availability for our customers
  • Plan the  transport network (evaluate complex customer deals, issue guidelines on network, improve network diversity and reliability, develop new network architectures)
  • Assisting and guiding the network provisioning team for subsidies project, large customer deals and yearly budget
  • Support wholesale and BBM with large & complex deals 
  • Determine budget requirement

 

Required competencies:

  • A degree in Engineering (electrical or computer) or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of network architectures, protocols and telecom technologies (DWDM, OTN, CDC, SONET, Ethernet, IP etc.)
  • Knowledge of Fibre types and associated impacts on optical systems
  • Geographic knowledge of the Ontario territory, including the North of the province
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written; with peers, management, and external partners
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills and team focus, with ability to lead and work within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with a strong attention to detail

 

Optional competencies:

  • Good understanding of the telecommunication industry and regulation
  • Knowledge of virtualization concept (SDN, NFV)
  • Knowledge of business and strategic financial analysis
  • Knowledge of Lean and Agile framework and mindset including an iterative approach.
  • Fully versed in all office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
