Reporting to the Senior Manager, Core Network Operations & Support – IMS Squad, the successful candidate will be responsible for provide 3rd level support for the Wireless IMS Core Network. The supported network functions would be the DRA, CSCF, SBC and DNS.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
Act as technical Subject Matter Expert for IMS Core Network technologies, providing support to various internal Bell teams.
Act as escalation point towards various Wireless Network vendors such as Nokia, F5, Mobilieum, etc… to investigate, expedite, and resolve network issues and business impacting problems.
Project Management of software rollout into Production network with assistance of Operation teams. This include lab testing, verification, MOP creation, deployment schedule managing, deployment coordination.
Job Duties/Accountabilities: Documentation of best practices and recommended network Operations & Maintenance procedures for Operation Teams.
Priming root cause analysis and following up on problems with other teams and/or vendor.
Using lab to reproduce/understand production issues/problems to collect additional logs for vendor investigations and find/validate any suitable workaround or corrections.
Participate, as Core Network SME, in ad-hoc Special Projects with Wireless Technology and Engineering teams for network integrations and launch of new services.
Coordinate activities with other groups including Switch Engineering, Technology Development, Operations, and Real Estate to support Bell Mobility’s business needs.
Working hours are generally regular Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm; however evenings and weekends may be required for special events and business requirements.
Essential Qualifications:
Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Computer Network Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience within a telecommunications industry.
Experience with UMTS/LTE/IMS networks.
High attention to detail and strong packet-level troubleshooting abilities are a must for this role.
Familiarity with core network signaling (SIP, Diameter, MAP, GTP, RTP, etc) in UMTS/LTE/IMS networks is a strong asset.
In depth understanding of fundamental IP Network and routing Protocols: TCP, SCTP, UDP, OSPF, BGP.
Excellent communication (verbal/written), time management, and project management skills.
Windows and Linux skills are required for this role.
Proven interpersonal and leadership skills with a passion for results, process improvement, and challenging the status-quo.
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
Familiarity with Bell Mobility’s IP, UMTS/HSPA/LTE networks and equipment.
Linux (RHCSA, RHCE) and Network (CCNA, JNCIS) certifications are strong assets.
Familiarity with 3GPP standards and technical specifications is a strong asset.
Familiarity with scripting (Perl, Bash, Python), and database manipulation (SQL, mySQL) are strong assets.
Background in project management focusing on Agile & Scrum
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
