The position is required within the Bell Mobility RF Engineering and Network Performance group responsible for providing wireless service to areas in Quebec. This individual will be focused in Quebec and preferably in Montreal. The successful candidate will report to the Manager – RF Engineering and Network Performance (Eastern Canada), and will be responsible for the design and optimization of Bell Mobility’s LTE and 5G wireless networks. The selected candidate will work closely with various teams within Wireless Network Operations at Bell Mobility. 

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

Identify network problem areas and evaluate/implement solutions to improve network quality and performance

Maintain/improve network performance and growth with sound network optimization practices

Design new sites using simulated coverage analysis based on radio propagation software

Evaluate and select new site candidates

Design antenna configuration for new sites (antenna selection, elevation, orientation, and tilt)

Design solutions to manage capacity growth

Configure datafill & integrate new sites into the existing network

Post process collected mobile communications drive data for the network

Take an active part in the management process of the marginal coverage areas (MCA)

Produce required technical documentation

Identify and make recommendations on productivity improvement opportunities within Wireless Engineering and Operations in accordance with LEAN management principles.

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

A degree in Electrical Engineering preferably specializing in Telecommunications or equivalent working experience

Minimum of 3-5 years experience in radio communication or wireless systems preferably with HSPA, LTE and 5G network technologies

Experience on Nokia technology would be an asset.

Experience with coverage prediction tools, MapInfo, Planet and Actix

Familiar with the usual office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Valid driver’s license (job requires some travel in Quebec)

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

Bilingual English/French.

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Innovative and open minded to new techniques and technologies.

Capacity and confidence to make decisions and assume responsibility over projects.

Attitude focused on team success and improving the customer experience.

Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
