Azure Cosmos DB is Microsoft’s next generation globally distributed, elastic scale, multi-model cloud database service - designed to enable developers to build planet scale applications. Azure Cosmos DB allows you to elastically scale both throughput and storage across any number of geographical regions with tunable consistency while providing blazing fast read /write performance backed by enterprise grade SLAs. 

One of the unique features of Azure Cosmos DB is its multi-model APIs which allows developers to develop new/migrate existing applications using popular open-source (OSS) APIs like MongoDB, Gremlin, Azure Tables, giving it a unique edge.  The team behind the multi-model APIs is now looking for passionate and technically strong engineers to help it to succeed on wide adoption and expansion of these APIs.   

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer II, you will be a key player across all areas of the engineering lifecycle, including understanding requirements from actual customers, defining the scope of feature set, building the right experience through code and working across organizational boundaries, shipping it with quality and on time, and sustaining it through its maturity.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following skills: 

• End to end ownership of a feature/area from design to execution
• Deep customer empathy
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams to drive cross-functional results.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

• Proficiency with C# and/or C, C++ 
• Familiarity with concurrent/multi-threaded programming, good understanding of algorithms and distributed systems.
• At least 5 years of proven experience in building and shipping production software or services. 
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent 

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Experience with any existing open-source api stack like Cassandra/Redis/MongoDB is a huge plus.
• Experience in Java/Python/Node/Go
