We are looking for dynamic Social Worker's to come and join our team in our Grey Lynn Site in Tāmaki Makaurau

This opportunity will suit someone who wants to increase their kete of knowledge and is willing to give new things a go. Someone who feels confident working through tricky and challenging situations and is willing to evidence kaitiakitanga in their practice. Someone who is culturally competent, embracing whakamanawa, whakapapa and working alongside our iwi partners.

| About the role

Kia Manawanui Programme:

The Kia Manawanui team sits within the Tāmaki Makaurau Specialist Teams site based at the Grey Lynn Oranga Tamariki office.  The team was developed to meet the needs of complex rangatahi aged between 12-17 years throughout Tāmaki Makaurau through intensive social work practice.  The team consists of five social workers and a youth worker. 

The team traditionally, holds lower case files than those seen on site, however Kia Manawanui covers both Family Court and Youth Court jurisdictions.  Additionally, the team works in partnership with each other ensuring that kia mahi and rangatahi have significant support to provide the best practice and outcomes.

As part of this team, staff applying are expected to have good knowledge of either the Family or Youth Court arena's and have a proven ability to work with highly complex cases.  Often rangatahi involved with the team require divergent plans and staff need to be able to adapt and create pathways for rangatahi and whanau. 

The Kia Manawanui team objectives include:

  • Stabilising the young people - accessing options across the continuum of care
  • Engaging the young people - identifying the risks, strengths and needs of the young people (whakapapa, whanaungatanga, mana tamaiti, safety, health, education, identity, and wellbeing)
  • Developing individualised plans with the young people in conjunction with their professional support network, and their whānau
  • Implementing, monitoring, and managing the individualised plans for each young person
  • Reviewing plans to determine any changes required and to ensure goals are achieved

Within the specialist team we're looking for candidates:

  • Experienced with knowledge of Family or/and Youth Court jurisdictions
  • Motivated to provide a high level of practice to rangatahi and whanau
  • History for managing complex rangatahi and whanau
  • A proven track record of being a team player
  • Knowledge of current practice expectations and models
  • Understand the value of self-care
  • Social work registration and experience working with tamariki, rangatahi and whānau
  • Cultural awareness and good relationship management
  • Integrity in working with whānau and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work as part of a team and add support as and where needed
  • Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
