Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, this role offers an incredible opportunity to develop your career in a highly successful organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring product is procured and/or imported from suppliers within the required timeframes and is available when and as required. This will involve assembling and producing accurate orders, liaising with freight partners, and ensuring shipments are imported as economically and efficiently as possible while meeting agreed supply dates. A typical day will include establishing order requirements, reviewing forecasts, creating purchase orders that meet business requirements, liaising with shipping and freight suppliers, monitoring the status of all orders and shipments, managing the smooth handover to inwards goods and the warehouse team, and liaising with suppliers to ascertain product costings. Additional tasks will include demand planning, resolving backorders and variances, assisting the warehouse team with documentation and clearances, and also ensuring the business operates in line with company expectations in relation to service levels and that correct processes are adhered to. On a daily basis you’ll have functional relationships with the National Sales Manager, Product Managers, the Warehouse Manager & the Warehouse team as well as the Internal Sales team and Vendor Managers. It’s a position within the business that will provide great job satisfaction while allowing the successful candidate to develop a solid commercial understanding of how a high performing business successfully executes and delivers a highly successful strategic plan.
To secure this job you’ll either have one – two years’ work experience gained in a similar role in New Zealand, with proven experience in the shipping/freight forwarding/ logistics sector, or you’ll be a recent Graduate with some work experience / knowledge with a strong desire to develop a supply chain career pathway. You’ll be able to clearly demonstrate a level of technical competence, attention to detail and strong commercial acumen which will allow you to truly add value to this business. You will be described as a true team player with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, who has the ability to negotiate to build win-win relationships and problem solve to make decisions and implement them effectively. You’ll be a financially astute, high performer who’s comfortable working with foreign exchange. You’ll be smart, self-motivated, ambitious and have a desire to succeed and be the best you can be
