Job Description
The role:
BellTV is committed to adding talented professionals to our team and we are looking to add a Solution Architect to our Bell TV team in support of our Fibe TV agile release train (ART). The team is responsible for the planning and delivery of our platforms and supporting infrastructure in support of our Fibe TV and Virgin TV service for Bell, Bell Aliant, and MTS. As a Solution Architect for the ART, you will play a key role in the planning and assessment of new capabilities supporting our Fibe TV service, working with the Bell TV Strategy team, business teams, vendors, senior management across network, IT and business, to plan and support delivery of new features, systems and technologies, aligning planning and investments with business strategy. As part of this role, there will also be significant focus on the client architecture, in particular the capabilities and evolution of android TV set-top boxes.
Responsibilities include:
- Be able to assess opportunities and impacts to the end to end BellTV systems including
- Conceptual architecture, Costing, Teams impacted, Effort, Dependencies, Lean Business case
- Preference to have a solid end to end understanding of all of our video technology and services within Bell TV
- Preference to have a solid understanding and experience with TV in-home technologies, in particular with the Android TV ecosystem and consumer electronics interoperability
- Be able to develop planning level roadmaps
- Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies, including Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and prioritization based on Weighted Shortest Job first (WSJF)
- Create and communicate material to senior level management
- Provide recommendations on risk mitigation strategies
- Work with architects within delivery teams, to assess solutions, align priorities, and to ensure solutions are developed according to the Solution architecture
- Working with external partners and other Bell teams on solution options and related recommendations
- Design system architecture and migration plans
- Build and maintain the architectural runway via Enabler Epics
- Collaborate with teams in preparation of epics, features and stories, to be executed during PIs (Product increments)
- Evaluate new technology and business opportunities as well as conduct PoC’s
- Stay current on major disruptive technology and non-technology trends that affect the Business
- Provide recommendations on technology, product and capability selections
- Work with peer architects, providing guidance on a comprehensive governance model to ensure solutions are developed according to the developed Solution architecture
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (or equivalent degree or experience)
- Preferred: recognized subject matter expert in video technology, obtained through advanced education and/or work experience
- Preferred: recognized subject matter expert in in-home hardware technologies, in particular, Android TV and consumer electronics interoperability, obtained through advanced education and/or work experience
Technical Leadership
- 8+ years experience in solution architecture
- In depth knowledge of the end to end video services and architectures for FibeTV & FibeTV App including video delivery, infrastructure, and features
- In-depth experience architecting and implementing video and streaming technology solutions.
- Deep understanding of the broader OTT video ecosystem and video services industry including operational experience in delivering TV services
- Preferred: Experience or in-depth knowledge in consumer electronics technologies including: HDMI, Android TV, tvOS, Bluetooth, wifi, SoC (system on chip), OEM relationships, interoperability, video/audio codecs

Working Conditions:
- Work hours are Mondays to Fridays, approximately 37.5 hours/week
- Flexible work start and finish times
- Some overtime may be required in order to meet deadlines
- Some travel required
