About the team:

Our Smart Core Technology & Architecture Team is seeking a Senior Solution Architect to help with solution delivery of 5G services.

We’re helping to ideate new 5G Services, executing proof of concept and deliver end to end solution based on our technology strategy and roadmap.  The technology is cutting-edge and the opportunity for making an impact is huge.  We are looking to supplement the team with an expertise in software development and wireless network; someone who is experienced with driving applications and services towards 5G technology enablers.

Key Responsibilities:

As a 5G Service Architect, you will be a key participant for designing the 5G Services to meet next gen applications stringent performance requirements. You will also be responsible for technology analysis, proof of concept, and trial disruptive and innovative solutions.

Analyze and design 5G service architecture, that will optimize networks to support innovative and disruptive applications. The next gen architecture will deliver demanding ultra-low latency, massive connections and high throughput performance requirements to meet customers experience.

Conduct proof of concept in the lab, and trials.

Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for 5G services

Forward thinking around where the organization is going and how technology can support these efforts.

Contribute in developing 3+ years technology strategy view on MEC including, but not limited to data and video.

Perform the technology watch; contribute to the strategy and evolution of new and existing services, as well as future architecture evolution.

Participate and lead in 5G,MEC and slicing related industry standard meetings and forums, assessing start-up companies, and propose 5G services architecture for Bell.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for SmartCore’s 5G services architecture, including public cloud providers, networking, orchestration, and automation.

Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within Bell departments to enable them to be MEC & Cloud advocates.

Provide thought leadership in industry and to fellow team members across business and technical project dimensions solving complex business requirements.

Act as a technical liaison between stakeholders, delivery teams and support.

Critical Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related subject; an advanced degree is preferred.

10 or more years experience in designing large and complex IT operations in large organizations, a research or academic environment is preferred.

Strong leadership and team-building skills, and must be able to collaborate effectively with a group of high performing individuals.

Demonstrated knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)

Expert in Open Stack, Private & Public Cloud.

Demonstrated leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why,” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation.

Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, etc

Understanding of UMTS/HSPA/LTE/IMS/5G core network architecture.

Knowledgeable about wireless networking, Wifi networking, DNS, WAN/LAN architectures, layer 2 switching, routing protocols, CISCO/Juniper products,  TCP/UDP/IPv4/IPv6

TCP / UDP / IP - Layer 1-3 functionality

Understanding or experience of Agile, Lean, DevOps, adaptive working environment.

Familiarity with 3GPP Release 15/16 specifications and IP networking protocols

Billingual in French and English

Preferred Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Cisco StarOS/IOS/IOSXR, Juniper JUNOS, Ericsson core and network security.

Practical knowledge with DevOps tools and programming/scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, Ansible, Git.

Experience with Unix, Linux

Red Hat or Equivalent qualification

Proven ability to deliver on a portfolio, of a large and complex nature, while leveraging lean agile methodologies

Ability to effectively negotiate and positively influence decision-making with business partners to drive change

An outside-of-box thinker, who is extremely resourceful, with a desire to continue to self-educate and learn to push the traditional boundaries

Workplace culture enthusiast who promotes fun, inclusion, and a continuous-learning environment

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
