Our team is part of Core Operating Systems Group within Azure that builds cutting edge technology and innovates with focus on building solutions to enable industry-leading audio/video, game and app streaming technology stack for PCs, Xbox and new classes of devices.

Demands for high quality media streaming under constrained network conditions is continuing to grow rapidly. We are seeking a strong developer in design/development of media players and pipelines for the latest video standards. Candidates must have a track record as a developer delivering complete, high-quality design and implementation and an aptitude for driving features across divisions and groups. Technical passion, cross-group partnership skills, ability for self-direction, a focus on quality software through appropriate tests, and aptitude for design are the most important competencies.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement components in a robust and scalable media player and media pipeline
• Implement features with high quality using automated functional, performance and stress testing. Contribute to building a scalable test framework spanning multiple services and SoCs.
• Drive clarity in product requirements in partnership with Program Managers, using data from customer discovery.
• Collaborate with internal partner teams to deliver new functionality that span multiple areas in the device software stack.
• Debug issues and work closely with support teams to root cause and resolve customer issues.
• Mentor, support, and coach other engineers to help them grow while helping build a high-quality software development culture.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 5 or more years of software design and development experience.
• Experience developing software using C++.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working on multimedia software

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing video streaming software
• Familiarity with Media Source Extensions and Encrypted Media Extensions
• Familiarity with codecs like HEVC and EAC3
• Familiarity with DRM systems like PlayReady and Widevine
