Cognizant’s Digital Engineering practice is seeking highly qualified Functional Developers/ Leads.

Our engineers have a passion for high-quality, reliable and maintainable code. You will work side by side with product managers, designers, and clients, making decisions together in order to quickly deliver valuable working software to clients and their users. Our engineers are agile and retrospective, and not afraid to identify what we’re doing wrong, so we can fix it, and what we’re doing right, so we can improve on it. Above all, we judge success by the success of our team and the happiness of our customers

Location:  Toronto ( Remote work option available)

Key Responsibilities

• Write pure functional Scala code to support launching emerging greenfield client platforms
• Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community, and from time to time, be asked to code or evaluate code
• Collaborate with fellow engineers, product managers and agile deliver leads to deliver robust cloud-based products and platforms that drive powerful experiences to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment

Professional Experience / Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering
• At least 2 years of experience with functional programming languages- Mainly Scala else  (Haskell, OCaml, Clojure,Erlang, F#, Common Lisp)
• At least 1 year of experience with public cloud services (Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure)

 Preferred Qualifications: 

• Master’s Degree
• 10+ years of experience in software development
• Experience with functional Scala or other functional languages (Haskell, OCaml, Clojure, Erlang, F#, Common Lisp)
• 4+ years of experience with cloud technologies
• 4+ years of experience with open source frameworks
• 3+ years of experience designing or architecting distributed systems
