Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

The Senior Regional Emergency Management Advisor vacancy sits within the Regional Partnerships Business Group. The Regional Partnerships Business Group facilitates, connects, and influences regional emergency management system partners and stakeholders in New Zealand enabling positive outcomes for communities before, during and after emergencies.

This role alongside other Regional Emergency Management Advisors in the Business Group are accountable for engagement with regional CDEM Groups on their statutory responsibility for delivering all aspects of CDEM to their communities, as well as with local authorities and other local stakeholders on their roles in this regard. This is provided through:

  • Mentoring, coaching, influencing, and advice;
  • Facilitating support towards the building and sustaining of capacity and capability;
  • Connecting emergency management in the regions with national strategy, planning, standards, and guidelines;
  • Identifying and communicating risk (that could impact communities in an emergency), and supporting connected solutions;
  • Understanding of the dynamics and sensitivities of vulnerable communities
  • Performing / supporting assurance processes; and
  • Leading or participating in NEMA work programmes.

During response and recovery, Senior Regional Emergency Management Advisors provide timely information, guidance, support, and assurance locally and nationally.

As a Senior Regional Emergency Management Advisor, you will bring the following attributes:

Tohunga & Wheako /Skills & Experience

  • Skills in working with people from a diverse range of perspectives and backgrounds;
  • Experience and understanding of Te Ao Māori and in particular skills in engaging and partnering with Māori would be desirable.
  • Experience in emergency management and/or hazard risk management.

Having to connect with our regional stakeholders, you will be the holder of a full NZ car drivers' licence, and willing to travel on a regular basis. A vehicle with full private use will be made available to the successful candidate.

The salary range for these roles are $112,837 - $132,749K including employer Kiwisaver contributions.

Whakaritenga Haumaru | Security Requirements

Due to the security requirements of this role, applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident, and able to obtain a 'Secret' security classification.
