Te Komihana Tauhokohoko - The Commerce Commission is New Zealand's competition, fair trading, consumer credit and economic regulatory agency. Our mission is to make New Zealanders better off by ensuring our markets work well and consumers and businesses are confident participants in those markets.
The Commission is going through an exciting period of growth, driven by increases in its functions, duties and powers, and supported by additional Government funding.
We're looking for experienced Project Managers with project set-up and delivery backgrounds to ensure the successfully deliver of our projects on time, on budget, and within scope.
We have two permanent positions in our new Infrastructure Regulation branch - one in our Performance and Understanding group and one in the Fibre team of our Price Quality Regulation group, and one permanent position in our new Market Regulation branch in the Fuel and Dairy team. We offer flexible working and all roles can be based in our Te Whanganui-a-Tara or TÄmaki Makaurau offices.
MŠte tūranga - About the role
You'll work in one of our economic regulation branches where our aim is to make New Zealanders better off through the economic regulation of infrastructure and markets in Aotearoa.
The Performance and Understanding group, in our Infrastructure Regulation branch, is responsible for using the tool of information disclosure regulation to improve understanding of the performance of regulated suppliers. You would report to the Head of Performance and Understanding.
The Fibre team, in our Infrastructure Regulation branch, is part of the Price Quality Regulation group which uses the tool of price quality regulation to improve the performance of regulated suppliers. You would report to the Fibre Manager.
The Fuel and Dairy team, in our Market Regulation branch, is responsible for our powers to improve competitiveness in the fuel sector and to review and report on Fonterra's farm milk pricing and its consistency with contestability in the market. You would report to the Fuel and Dairy Manager.
In all of these roles, you will play a critical role in the delivery of our projects. As a key member within the team, you'll work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams ranging from lawyers and accountants to economists and data specialists. You'll need to be comfortable working with scope change, quality demands and a certain level of ambiguity. You will have the opportunity to use a range of project management skills and approaches to suit each project. You'll also have a direct line to our decision-makers, the Commissioners.

While not essential, a qualification or equivalent experience in accounting, law, engineering and/or economics will be an advantage, as well as a qualification and/or experience in a project management framework.
