Playwright is Microsoft’s open-source end-to-end testing for modern web apps that is loved and trusted by developers around the globe. As a Program Manager focusing on Playwright, developer advocacy, you'll be responsible for spreading the word about the testing technology to developers around the world, online and in person. Testing source code and user interfaces are an essential part of building quality and reliable apps. Microsoft’s testing tools, frameworks, and services are growing fast and need advocates to help them reach and enable more developers to leverage their capabilities.

A successful Developer Advocate has equally strong technical and people skills. You love testing and Playwright, but you love to talk to people about testing just as much. The ideal candidate is a software developer interested to share their knowledge and passion with other developers. Finally, they will actively collaborate with the product teams to drive feedback from engagements and collaborate with community members to build an inclusive environment where all feel welcome.

Responsibilities

Deliver technical presentations to a developer audience around Playwright

Work side-by-side the program management and engineering teams to drive the direction of Playwright and testing services from Microsoft

Collaborate with community members and help build communities around Playwright and adjacent products from Microsoft

Generate technical content for a variety of channels (website, blog, social media, events) such as How to / tips and tricks, samples, product deep dives, demos, screencasts, interesting stories)

Be on the constant lookout for opportunities to increase Microsoft’s visibility and leadership in the testing space

Represent Microsoft at industry events

Qualifications

3+ years of experience coding in JavaScript/TypeScript 

3+ years of front-end web development experience 

2+ years of web testing experience 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience delivering technical presentations to a developer audience. 

Experience working with a range testing product including Playwright, other frameworks, tools, and/or services. 

Familiarity with client-side browser architecture and understanding of how web standards are made.

Hands-on experience building and delivering full stack web applications.

Customer advocate with high agency and extreme ownership mindsets.

Strong sense of teamwork, personal integrity, responsibility, and integrity.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

The salary range for this role is from $138,200 to $206,800 based in Colorado.

At Microsoft certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
