Te Wai MÄori Trust is seeking applications for a Senior Policy Analyst to join their team. Te Wai MÄori is building their team to deliver on their growing freshwater and freshwater fisheries work programmes.
Te Wai MÄori Trust is a subsidiary trust of the iwi owned organisation Te Ohu Kaimoana. Te Wai MÄori was established to advance MÄori rights and interests in freshwater fisheries. Protecting MÄori interests in freshwater fisheries ultimately means protecting habitat to ensure quality water and abundant species. Freshwater fisheries include species, habitat, surrounding land, water column, water quality and quantity.

Your new role
This is a unique opportunity to apply research, analysis and strategic advice to projects and issues of significance to iwi and hapū in relation to freshwater, freshwater fisheries and habitat.

In addition to evaluating and developing policy and leading policy projects, this role also requires the management of various projects, and the ability to report and present your work across a variety of mediums.
This role also involves extensive engagement with iwi, hapū and Crown officials and other stakeholders, and the ability to maintain positive and on-going working relationships with these groups is vital.
What you'll need to succeed
Our client is seeking an experienced professional with 5+ years’ relevant experience with sound knowledge and understanding of Aotearoa’s systems for managing freshwater and freshwater fisheries and activities that affect freshwater and coastal marine areas.
