About us
The Ministry of Social Development is a people-centred organisation. We're in communities across the motu, working with partners to help New Zealanders be safe, strong and independent.
We provide social policy and advice to government and assistance, including income, employment and housing support to people of all ages, families, whÄnau and communities.
As a Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner we are committed to supporting and enabling MÄori, whÄnau, hapÅ«, Iwi and communities to realise their own potential and aspirations.
Our people are as diverse as the communities we serve. We care about the wellbeing and success of our people and provide a supportive and inclusive working environment where people can thrive and be who they are.
Senior Operational Policy Analysts - Safe Strong Families and Communities
Your chance to support initiatives to address social issues, including family violence and sexual violence, financial wellbeing and rural isolation.
In our work we make a real and positive difference for communities through the services we invest in and the support we give. As a Senior Operational Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for providing operational policy advice and support for developing and improving social services for New Zealanders from inception through to implementation.
These fast-paced positions are in an achievement focused workplace. We are looking for a broad skillset, but key will be your ability to understand data collection methods, to understand the nuances of using data, and the technical skills to build allocation models to underpin evidence-based and balanced analysis. You'll be able to present this complex data to different audiences so they can easily understand it. Knowledge of different evaluation and research methods and developing outcome framework and measures would be an added bonus.
Because we work to support the other teams in our group, you'll need good relationship building and communication skills; someone who thrives on working across teams to develop solutions and build connections.
Ideally, you'll understand the machinery of government and be able to apply a Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti o Waitangi lens to your work – and an understanding of Te Ao Maori and tikanga would be good too.
