About the role

The Senior Materials and Process Engineer is a versatile Engineer who wears many hats during the R&D/prototype phase of a project.

This particular role will have you working closely with the Neutron prototype manufacturing team and supporting functions such as ‘but not limited to’, Material selection, Testing, tooling design, structural design and analysis while utilizing your Knowledge in Composite material processing and designing for manufacture. 

While this is a role within the Neutron team you may also be required to support functions of the Electron production team from time to time.

Essential skills

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field;
• 5+ years’ industry experience, ideally in the aerospace, automotive or marine industries
• Experience in structural analysis of composites (laminate design, joint design, materials characterization, environmental effects); 
• Expert in composite lamination processing.
• Experienced in lightweight structures engineering
• Experience in accurate prediction of component life and structural margins
• Experience with sensor selection and data post-processing/ interpretation (accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples etc.)
• Experience using Solid worksCAD and PDM packages (or comparable industry standard packages) 
• Familiar with conventional machining and additive manufacturing,
• The ability to work to deadlines within a high-pressure environment;
• Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and engineering professionals.
