What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Data Domain Accountability Oversight is responsible to assist the Director, Data Domain Accountability Oversight in developing and maintaining governance and the assessment of the effectiveness of business and functions partner practices to implement core components of the data framework and ensure that data is managed consistently across the firm’s data domains.
What will you do?
- Policy Compliance Review
- Perform assessment of domain adherence to Enterprise Data Management Framework, Policy & underlying standards through ongoing review in partnership with other CDO teams, Data Domains and Data Management Offices across RBC
- Document the progress of Data Domains in meeting the requirements outlined in the Enterprise Data Standards
- Support policy adoption and related assessments by providing opinion and guidance while ensuring timely execution
- Develop and maintain processes and procedures to ensure that data management activities (e.g., CDO identification, role & responsibilities documentation, lineage etc.) are well understood and implemented
- Define standards for analysis of business process and data flows to identify data management risks
- Challenge and Oversight
- Facilitate mitigation of data risks by assisting Business and Function stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of internal data controls Review (and assist as needed) and approve data control documentation delivered to Business and Function stakeholders
- Evaluate existing controls design and DMO documentation and identify gaps from accountability perspective
- Perform necessary evaluation and assessment to ensure Data role mandates and job descriptions (includes identifying where shared services are to be applied) are documented and approved and data roles aware of their mandates
- Assess the effectiveness of service level agreements (SLA) between data provider and data consumer
- Reporting
- Review analysis and working papers and prepare presentation materials to articulate conclusions and results to management
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- Experience in a similar role supporting implementation of Governance Frameworks
- 5-10 years financial services industry experience
- Knowledge of and experience in risk management practices including risk assessment, controls testing and independent review
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in designing and documenting policies, standards, guidelines and procedures
Nice to have:
- Data governance and data risk management experience
- Data analytics and reporting skills
