Job Description
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Director, Business Intelligence, Pricing and Access Strategy, the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence will be working closely with a number of internal partners, including IT, operations, marketing and product development. This role will be responsible for driving the BI Strategic Roadmap, establishing governance across the BI requests, and driving best in class practices within BI.
This position calls for a flexible, business-minded individual who is focused on results as well as customer experience while driving change armed with strong critical thinking skills. To this end, you must be capable and comfortable challenging the status quo, while working effectively in a collaborative manner with all business units and levels. Leading a team of Data Scientists, responsible for the recurrent production of results and supporting analytics to Bell’s top executives, strong leadership abilities must have been demonstrated in prior roles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of analyst professionals that support enabling programs that manage resourcing, training and budget priorities. The candidate will lead a team of Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and Data Scientist professionals and SR Managers
- Effectively engage, lead and influence cross-functional teams to deliver highest level of quality on all projects within committed timelines and scope
- Engage and build strong relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders to incorporate their goals, and instill confidence to ensure alignment to and adoption of solutions
- Provide regular updates on BI Strategic initiatives, including risks and risk management approach to senior management
- Champion BI capabilities and create advocacy for the Business Intelligence team to our business partners and senior management
- Lead the planning, identification, development and implementation of design and/or changes to key reports and ad hoc requests
- Develop and enforce standards around documentation, development and overall quality of deliverables
- Act as a steward for standards around data model, data dictionary and implementation of business rules and definitions
Critical Qualifications & Competencies:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in BI, IT, CS, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and/or related fields
- Ability to lead BI professionals and instilling in them a performance orientation, a sense of shared purpose and the collective skill sets needed to deliver business goals
- 5+ years of experience in the data management discipline covering the data development, reporting, and analytics space
- Project management orientation to lead short and long-term BI projects into fruition
- Solid understanding of the BI lifecycle including the design, development, QA, maintenance, and support stages
- Effective communicator with facilitation and conflict resolution skills and an ability to lead a group of diverse stakeholders through decision-making processes
- Excellent presentation skills
- Structured and proactive with the need to quickly execute in an agile development environment
- In-depth knowledge of data marts and data design/architecture concepts
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, particularly in the area of customer and competitor/industry analysis, with an ability to extract strategic themes and quickly draw meaningful conclusions
- Resourceful, autonomous, disciplined self-starter, with the ability to work independently and as part of an extended team
- Passion for uncovering business needs, identifying opportunities, and aligning efforts to ensure timely implementation
Preferred Competencies:
- Hands on machine learning and AI experience strongly preferred
- Experience in technology companies and/or telecom networks is a strong asset
- Ability to develop viable financial business cases
- Advanced Excel modelling skills
