What is the opportunity?
The JSOC Digital Development team is constantly undertaking complex development initiatives, whether developing solutions to fight crime, productionizing deep learning models, or creating products that inform and enable our wide range of internal stakeholders. Our team designs, architects, and builds bespoke solutions to support forward-thinking and industry-leading initiatives from JSOC’s Cyber & Digital Threat Hunting, Cyber Analytics, and Adversary Emulation teams.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative individual to lead a small-to-mid sized team of software engineers. The role involves instilling software engineering best practices, providing mentorship for our team members, working closely with various leads, onboarding and developing new employees, providing regular coaching sessions, and managing project timelines with our talented Agile Enablement team.
What will you do?
Manage, support, and grow a team of engineers by providing technical guidance across various projects
Coordinate software development work between yourself and other team members
Work closely with peers in different areas to clarify requirements and define sprint plans
Translate business requirements into technical solutions, plan architectural changes, and guide software development efforts to meet needs, ensure quality, and deliver on time
Oversee the design and development of highly-usable web applications by following best practices
Encouraging and maintaining proper development life-cycle (PR reviews, unit testing, and documentation)
Constantly assess new and existing solutions to implement best-of-breed solutions
Be a primary contact point for production-related questions or issues.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Proven leadership experience (e.g., Team Lead or Manager)
Demonstrated ability to mentor developers and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Strong ability to communicate, collaborate, and empathize with others
You care deeply about performance, security, scalability, and availability
Knowledge of design and architectural patterns and development best practices (including unit-testing, front-end development, and data structures).
Nice-to-have
Experience with Django framework
Understanding of Docker and other containerized platforms
Good understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases
Experience in cloud engineering and deployments
