Local Custody is a high-volume, low-fee activity, with high asset values at stake. These factors are combined with the perceived “deep pocket†of custodians, uncapped liability and substantial scrutiny from regulators. Local custodian assumes responsibility for the safekeeping and administration of its client portfolio of assets and in relationship with Global Custodians and other Investor services departments and applications.
The local Custody Applications Change the Bank function integrates a set of applications mainly deployed in Canada, supporting the Investor & Treasury Services line of business and functions based in Canada but also in UK and Kuala Lumpur. It encompasses the software design, development and/or integration, maintenance and third line support activities related to the Custody portfolio to ensure integrity, stability, resiliency, safety and soundness of the I&TS services.
What will you do?
Strategy
- In collaboration with Business sponsors and Solution architect you’ll work accordingly to Business product owner directions to align the short, mid and longer term strategy related to Custody systems to enhance the services deliver to our clients and to our business operation teams
- Based on the RBC technology strategy, you’ll make recommendations to make our legacy systems aligned with this strategy, including as illustration cloud, DevOps pipeline, API as targeted technologies every times it’s possible
Technical/code delivery
- You’ll be accountable for technical and code change delivery as per delivery plans working closely with vendors in charge of the development activities
- You’ll make sure that code delivery activities are executed as per excepted quality, on time and within budget for the agreed scope working actively with vendor partners and vendor resources; you’ll work with Production support team to agree on plan related to maintenance activities in order to manage all tech currency upgrades
Vendor management
- Working directly with vendor resources and representatives you’ll be the gate keeper to guarantee that the vendor has in place, detailed Resource allocation plan as per existing workload for known ER/Projects, Detailed on-boarding/training plan for new resources, Detailed succession plan for key resource SME’s, Detailed and up-to-date documentation
Financial/Risk
- You’ll work with vendors to optimize on-shore/off-shore resources distribution including the risk factor.
- You’ll determine with the vendor the minimum team structure that is required to ensure application expertise and knowledge continuity within the team
- Based on the previous point, you’ll determine the required budget to cover the cost of these resources and will monitor the forecasted development budget to make sure it covers at least these resources
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent industry experience
- 7+ years of Technology Development
- 5+ years Leadership experience across Infrastructure/AppDev environment
- 5+ years Proven experience in Development’s team Management
- Business knowledge within I&TS Landscape or similar capacity
- Business Knowledge - Custody / Transaction management Services (cash & Securities)
- Understanding of PMF/SDLC
