What is the opportunity?

In this role, you will be responsible for the ongoing production of accurate net asset values (NAVs) for the team’s entire fund range – inclusive but not limited to hedge funds, mutual funds, pooled funds, and segregated funds.  Effective controls and processes must be followed in order to maintain accurate records within the Funds.  Business risk to be identified, managed & mitigated.  All audit and regulatory requirements must be clearly satisfied and key service level agreements (SLAs) met.  This is evidenced through efficiently managed production & dispatch of fund pricing to our clients.  You will be responsible for assisting with evolving processes and procedures to minimize risk.  You will review work produced by the Fund Accountants and perform quality control (QC) as per NAV Production procedures, and assist with the training of new employees as required

 

What will you do?

  • Prepare the daily, weekly, semi-monthly, monthly Net Asset Value (NAV) for funds, meeting tight deadlines and Service Level Standards (SLS)
  • Ensure all data required to produce the NAV is available and quality ensured (corporate actions, pricing)
  • Prepare the calculation of year-end distributions of income, capital gains and related tax issues
  • Minimize NAV discrepancies and ensure timely corrective action
  • Liaise with external custodians/3rd Parties for the accurate and timely computation of the funds NAV
  • Review the work prepared by Fund Accountants for consistency and accuracy and provide training to new Fund Accountants
  • Provide clients with prompt responses to service issues or queries in a professional manner that consistently exceeds clients' expectations
  • Participate in manager meetings (as required)
  • Participate in client/fund event planning meetings (as required)
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and accounting standards
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of the various accounting policies for different fund types

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 2-4 years of fund accounting experience, including strong technical knowledge on calculating Net Asset Value, preparing financial statements and knowledge of accounting standards
  • Strong securities industry knowledge
  • Post-secondary degree in related field (i.e. Accounting)
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills: Excel, Word
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & under tight deadlines       

 

Nice-to-have

  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • Working towards an accounting (or related) qualification
  • Previous analytical exposure
  • Knowledge of MPower & pControl
  • Willingness to become involved in projects outside the scope of fund accounting
  • VBA skills
