In addition to measuring, analyzing, and forecasting performance in conjunction with operating plans, you will conduct financial modeling on a variety of initiatives in this Senior Financial Analyst role. In addition to preparing reports for management, you will help advise management on the distribution of resources to best complete objectives. As a key business partner on a dynamic team, you will work in areas including forecasting, performance reporting, and expense management. Your role as the Senior Financial Analyst will consist of supporting world class strategic and financial planning methods, building long-range operating plans to support business imperatives and developing rolling forecast processes to ensure resources every quarter are consumed at maximum effectiveness. Additional aspects of this role consist of operationalizing and cultivating a more data-driven planning process and improved monthly and quarterly reporting. In this role, you will be directly involved in the coordination of various planning cycles (annual planning, quarterly forecasts and monthly outlooks), while providing strategic analyses and recommendations. You will provide variance analysis of the business, clearly explaining the business reasons for variances and adjusting the outlook models to reflect operational adjustments. The Senior Financial Analyst role is a hybrid set-up, permanent employment opportunity in the Edmonton, Alberta.

Your responsibilities

- Collaborate with senior executives on strategic deep dives on creating financial models and insights

- Possess the know-how and be able to explain internal and external drivers impacting performance and trending

- Survey performance to date and assess potential opportunities and risks

- An ideal candidate should be highly flexible, comfortable with large amounts of information, and adept at managing expectations

- Work closely with cross functional partners in Accounting and Operations to execute against plans

- Assemble and review forecasting reports

- Drive monthly reporting to business partners on financial results and actions required

- Track monthly and quarterly performance through comparison of actuals versus expectations and enable business partners to handle their resources

- Enable effective Business Intelligence (BI) to provide forward-looking insight and decision support

Requirements

- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

- Financial Analytics experience

- Knowledge of Complex Financial Analysis

- Well-founded grasp of Complex Financial Models

- Investment financial analysis experience highly desired

- Practical knowledge of financial modeling

- Quality experience with investment financial modeling

- Deep understanding of financial analysis

- Solid understanding of Ad Hoc Financial Analysis

- Creative problem solver who anticipates risks and opportunities and maintains a vision for continuous improvement

- 2+ years of experience in problem solving through statistical analysis or with large data sets highly preferable (such as business analytics or in a similarly demanding and analytical role)

- Understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) reporting tools required

- A professional designation such as a CFA, CBV or CPA
