The Role

Sitting within the Consulting group is our CIO Advisory & Tech Modernization practice which assists CIOs in developing a competitive advantage for their organizations by strategically aligning IT with business objectives and emerging industry needs.

The Senior Architect is a person who is considered to be an expert in technical and process areas. The person need to have deep technical expertise in more than one technology area and should have command on detailed activities along with creating documents, powerpoint presentations and articulating solutions with all details needed.

The ideal candidate should be able to work credibly with client management in two modes: (1) advisory consultant to a client program with some oversight from a Cognizant Consulting Partner or Principal, (2) a lead consultant in a consulting engagement led by a Consulting Principal or an Engagement Manager.

Overall, the candidate must demonstrate the below capabilities:

• Demonstrated architecture & technology leadership experience
• Demonstrated Insurance Domain experience on either one of the following: 1) Group Insurance, 2) Individual Insurance or 3) Wealth Management.
• Self-motivation, ability to lead and collaborate in cross functional teams
• Critical thinking, analytical skills, out-of-the-box problem solving
• Should have excellent written and verbal skills with complete clarity while expressing
  • Should be able to independently plan and run workshops with middle and senior manage teams with Cognizant and customer
• Capability and experience in working in organizational dynamics of a large IT services firms
• Demonstrated ability in developing and documenting IT application architectures, architecture views and understanding of architecture discipline and methodology
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively (80% or more)

 Knowledge and Skills:

• Deep technology and hands on experience in at least two areas listed below:

1. .Net or Java or Open source stacks or digital Interactive technology areas
2. Cloud environment – Azure, AWS, GCP
3. Data base / analytics – Openshift,
4. CICD – CICD pipeline set up, other tools and technologies
5. Contemporary Web Architecture (SOAP, SOA, REST, API, etc.) – Java/J2EE, JavaScript, CSS, HTML/HTML5, Modern JavaScript Frameworks, Responsive Web Technologies

• Certification in one or more cloud environment is preferred
• Certification in SaFe is preferred
• Should be able to create executables and demonstrate the value
• Demonstrated command of architecture domains and architecture methodology (e.g, TOGAF)
  • Should have command on at least two architecture domains with technology domain being primary
• Should be able to drive solution for given problem statements
• Application Architecture concepts and best practices (Tiers, Partitioning, Modularity)
  • Architecture NFRs, Availability (HA/DR), Performance (Capacity, Resource Utilization, Responsiveness), Information Security (Authentication, Authorization, Encryption)
  • State of the art Integration Patterns, including SOA, API, Micro-Services, including integration with COTS solutions (e.g., SAP), Mobile and Social Media Solutions, etc.

Specialized and Optional Knowledge and Skills:

• Cloud native solutions, DevOps, Containers, Continuous Integration and Development (CI/CD)
• Micro-Services and API architectures
• Cloud, Mobile, Analytics and Social Media Platforms, Big Data

Qualifications & Requirements:

• 10+ years experience in Information Technology, 3-5 years in consulting or advisory role
• Bachelors Degree required, MBA with several years of work experience preferred
• Demonstrated command of TOGAF concepts of architecture domains, architecture methodology, architecture meta-model, etc.
