Role and responsibilities
Senior Consultants in our Banking and Financial Services (BFS) consulting teams drive the delivery and analyses in the execution of transformational projects for top tier banks and financial services firms in Canada and around the world. Typical projects are multi-disciplinary and incorporate analyses covering industry landscape evolution, regulatory impact, business strategy, digital / omni-channel distribution, operational considerations, and technology strategy and platform optimization.
Primary responsibilities for a Senior Consultant include:
Consulting engagement execution
• Solving clients’ critical challenges related to the reinforcement of their core business positioning and the design, development and deployment of next generation business models
• Identifying critical aspects of the engagement, managing data gathering and conducting analyses by applying relevant tools, methodologies and techniques to drive problem solving
• Conducting analyses and creating compelling presentations for review by senior team members and clients
• Adapting as required to dynamically changing client environments
Thought leadership
• Conducting research on market and industry trends
• Assisting in the creation of articles and whitepapers showcasing the firm’s thought leadership
Business development support
• Participating in pre-sales activities through the development of presentations and proposals for clients and prospects
Ideal applicant qualifications
2-3 years of management consulting experience at an established consultancy or advisory group
• Superb written and verbal communication (French and English)
• Inquisitive and ability to test hypotheses with strong analytical skills
• Adept at summarizing and presenting results of analyses to both internal consulting and client teams
• Bachelors of engineering, commerce, business, economics or similar discipline
• Domain experience and credentials in two or more of the following BFS areas is ideal, but not required — retail banking, commercial banking, lending and mortgage, cards and payments, capital markets and wealth management, risk and regulations, cards and payments, fintech platforms, and digital technologies
• Demonstrable skills in core consulting tools (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Access etc.), methodologies (e.g. data analytics, data visualization, process mapping), frameworks and storyboarding
• Broad, enterprise-wide business perspectives, and at least intermediate level proficiency in several of business and technology strategy, operations / process improvement, capabilities building, enabling technologies, and organization / governance
• Ability to apply deep understanding of domain and industry frameworks to plan, define and solution client engagements, with an appreciation of top down as well as bottom-up approaches to solution engagement
• Proficiency in business architecture
• Self-starter and outcome-focused problem solver
• Strong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence
