The Perth electricity market modelling team is part of an Australia and New Zealand-wide team of energy modelling specialists with a diverse range of backgrounds including engineering, economics, maths, statistics, and computing. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to play a core role in the delivery of our modelling projects.

 You will gain experience in the operation of energy markets, energy market design, assessment of renewable energy and power station projects, power system and network planning frameworks, as well as exposure to client and energy industry issues in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Key responsibilities:

Assist project delivery teams in data management, results analysis, and modelling tasks

• Help in developing and updating various datasets and modelling tools needed by the team

• Work with national and international teams to understand and communicate modelling results to internal and external stakeholders in the energy sector

 The successful candidate will:

• Possess a relevant tertiary education discipline such as engineering, mathematics, economics, physics or computer science

• Be highly experienced with the Microsoft Office Suite with Excel and Excel VBA, and programming/scripting including utilising SQL and Python daily

• Be highly numerate with demonstrated experience in manipulating and analysing large data sets efficiently and with the ability to deal with ambiguities within data

• Present strong communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate meaningful insights to clients and colleagues both verbally and in written form

• Have the ability to employ best practice in data visualisation for both analysis and presentation

 Ideally, you’ll also have:

• an understanding of or willingness to learn about the structure, key drivers and rules relevant to the wholesale electricity market and the power system.
