The Sr. Business Systems Analyst, Retail IT, will work with business leads and business users to identify and articulate the business requirements, create business workflows and process models, and produce system specifications. The Sr. Systems Analyst will also work with technical teams to convey requirements, assess system impacts and build system specifications, support design and development to ensure that all requirements are met and provide input to the QA process and activities – which may include producing Testing Strategy and QA Planning for Retail IT projects. The Business Systems Analyst will report to the Senior Program Manager, Retail IT.
Must have knowledge of:
System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Requirements gathering methodologies and techniques
IT Systems and data analysis
Task planning, estimating, and progress status reporting
eCommerce and ERP applications
Responsibilities:
Planning an approach for documenting, categorizing, and packaging requirements
Identifying and gathering business requirements
Conducting requirements review meetings
Developing business process maps/diagrams
Developing system requirement documents for approval
Providing coordination for task execution instead of PM for smaller initiatives such as minor operational or project changes – i.e. able to gather requirements, schedule changes in environments, engage teams to implement and test and deploy scheduled/approved changes.
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
The required skills include - but not limited to:
Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree computer science or equivalent
Ideally 6-8 years business analysis experience or similar I.T. systems analysis experience or I.T. coordination experience
Working and hands-on knowledge of eCommerce and ERP application is critical
Demonstrated experience in defining & documenting requirements for I.T. business systems with solid understanding of technology and I.T. systems
Proven experience with all stages of system implementation in a fast-paced environment for smaller to medium size projects
Excellent knowledge of system development life cycle
Ability to ask probing questions and to offer alternative solutions
Knowledge of Visio or other process mapping tools
Knowledge of change management and experience with Change management and release management
Other skills:
A team player with ability to coordinate multiple projects with competing priorities and strict deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation and consensus building skills
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Good negotiation, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to work at a detailed level and quickly learn business application specific details
Good to have experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems or products
Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong customer service orientation.
Soft Skills: Good oral and written communications skills, team player, organized, excellent inter-personal skills, innovative, self-motivating, and willingly accepts new challenges, proactive, attention to detail
Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
