Purpose of the position
Reporting to the head of the Business Architecture practice, the Senior Business Architect plays a key role in National Bank of Canada’s organizational transformations. The incumbent is responsible for defining all long-term transformation objectives in support of National Bank of Canada’s overall strategy, developing plans to achieve those objectives and supporting their implementation. The incumbent has experience working with executives and implementing major strategic initiatives across the various National Bank of Canada sectors.
Responsibilities
The Senior Business Architect has the following responsibilities:
- Design at a high level the target architecture that defines how National Bank of Canada must operate to implement its overall strategy. This design includes identifying business capabilities, functions, processes and information to be transformed and determining how these resources will need to be transformed and interrelated to enable the implementation of the overall strategy.
- Develop the transformation plan that optimally identifies and prioritizes transformation projects so that the overall strategy can be implemented in an agile and efficient manner.
- Provide National Bank of Canada senior management with support to develop the overall strategy (e.g. analysis of the internal environment and the feasibility of strategic options).
- Align implementation activities (e.g. IT architecture, portfolio management, project management and risk management) with the strategy.
- Engage all stakeholders affected by the development and implementation of the overall strategy.
- The Senior Business Architect may also be called upon to help set up National Bank of Canada’s Business Architecture division and establish the governance thereof.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or other relevant discipline
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a Business Architect (as described above)
- Relevant experience working for a financial institution (an asset)
- Good knowledge of various business architecture frameworks and methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, BIZBOK, ASATE)
- Business Architecture certification (an asset)
- Good knowledge/understanding of business architecture peripheral disciplines (e.g. enterprise architecture, IT architecture, portfolio management, project management, data, processes, and risk management)
- Leadership
