What you will do

You will provide in-depth analytical services through relevant analysis and reporting to support the Defence Commercial Services (DCS) team to deliver effective and efficient commercial services to NZ Defence Force.

Key duties include:

  • Undertaking in-depth analysis of commercial information and data for DCS commercial delivery and services Projects;
  • Maintaining and administering relevant databases and business systems to ensure that information and data is updated, current, accurate and fit for purpose;
  • Data mining and running ad hoc extracts and reports including financial analysis, modelling, process mapping, business improvement and quality assurance;
  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting on commercial business performance against DCS Commercial Delivery strategy; and
  • Creating and updating relevant DCS processes and procedures documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.

What we need

You will be an experienced Business Analyst looking to step up into a senior role. You will have an analytical mind, with the ability to gather and organise data and information, and present in a succinct and persuasive way.

You will also have:

  • Proven experience developing effective working relationships across a variety of stakeholders;
  • Demonstrable problem solving skills, with the ability to think critically and laterally, and make recommendations;
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in Excel and SAP BI; and
  • A passion for commercial services and procurement, including contract management and financial information.

Defence Commercial Services (DCS) is a unit within the wider Joint Defence Services (JDS) Portfolio. JDS enables Defence Force operations by synchronising key pan-NZDF enabling functions including Logistics, Defence Security and Commercial Services.

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
