At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the global scale, support, inclusive culture and technology to become the best version of you. And we’re counting on your unique voice and perspective to help EY become even better, too. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.
The opportunity
We are seeking a motivated lawyer based in Melbourne with transactional banking & finance and / or property development experience to join our fast-growing private practice team at EY Law.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary global organisation that is committed to making significant in-roads into the Australian legal market. The successful candidate will work in a team on major transactions for corporate borrowers, financiers and real estate developers and investors in:
structured real property finance;
real estate project development, investment and joint ventures; and
corporate and project finance.
This will be a major leadership role for Senior Associates looking to join.
Whilst being part of the EY Real Estate, Projects and Finance Law team, you will also have the rare opportunity to work closely with our Capital Debt Advisory Team and Real Estate Advisory Team (amongst others) in providing integrated solutions for our clients.
There are boundless development and leadership opportunities right now for the right people to be part of building something new as we have a number of high profile and interesting projects across Australia. The two partners in the team are looking to work with you to develop your business plan and help build your practice. If you want to work for a team that has the culture and flexibility of a boutique, but the scale, network and exposure of a global firm then read on. We embrace a high-performance culture but also encourage our lawyers to have a healthy work life balance and to work remotely and flexibly.
Skills and attributes for success
To qualify for the role you must have
For the Senior Associate role, at least 5 years PAE, although more experienced candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
For the solicitor role, at least 1 year PAE.
Practical and technical legal experience in banking & finance and / or property development.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to win confidence through your skills and diligence.
Strong business development skills and a willingness to create and manage external client contacts and internal networks.
Strong desire to work with diverse teams comprising lawyers and other experts.
Great communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent client management skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have
Some experience working on major projects
The ability and desire to train and mentor more junior members of the law team
Candidates relocating back to Melbourne from overseas are encouraged to apply.
What we offer

Continuous learning: personalised career development including coaching, experiences and formal learning so you’ll develop the mindset and skills you’ll need to thrive in the future.

At EY, you’ll be rewarded and recognised based on your performance and our comprehensive benefits package can be tailored to your individual needs.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process in order to equitably participate, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application via contactrecruitment@au.ey.com or phone +61 3 8650 7788 (option 4).
