Te Komihana Tauhokohoko - The Commerce Commission is New Zealand's competition, fair trading, consumer credit and economic regulatory agency. Our mission is to make New Zealanders better off by ensuring our markets work well and consumers and businesses are confident participants in those markets.
The Commission is going through an exciting period of growth, driven by increases in its functions, duties and powers, and supported by additional Government funding.
We are on the lookout for a Senior Analyst to join the Fuel and Dairy Team, which is a part of our Market Regulation branch. This is a permanent position, based in either our Te Whanganui-a-Tara, or TÄmaki Makaurau, office.
MŠte tūranga - About the role
The Fuel regime is new, and our aim is to improve the competitiveness of the fuel market for the benefit of consumers in Aotearoa. It is an exciting time to join the team, and a great opportunity to influence our approach.
We are responsible for enforcing the requirements of the Fuel Industry Act 2020 and monitoring the competitive performance of fuel markets. We monitor and enforce compliance with the Act, and analyse information disclosed under the Act.
The team also has responsibility for the Commission's role under the Dairy Industry Restructuring Act. In this role we publicly report on the extent to which Fonterra's milk price setting processes and calculations provide incentives for Fonterra to operate efficiently and are consistent with contestability in the market for purchasing farmers' milk.
