About Us:

Bell Mobility’s Wireless Network Strategy team is a center of excellence for the deployment of new technologies geared at enabling the evolution of Bell Mobility’s wireless networks across Canada.  The group’s mission is to identify, develop and plan the deployment of best-of-breed technologies that reduce capital costs, enable new revenue streams through deployment of advanced services, and improve performance in wireless networks across Canada.

 

The Wireless Network team is seeking a qualified individual that will offer the selected candidate the opportunity to learn about new wireless technologies through standards development, research papers, industry forums, vendor partnerships and trial activities.  Knowledge gained on the capabilities of emerging technologies and their business fit is developed into a workable plan for execution by the technology development teams. 

 

Job description:

Reporting to the Director, Wireless Network Strategy, the successful candidate will need to be a technical leader in radio, IP, cloud and transport domains with strong business acumen and communication.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Identify monetization and cost reduction opportunities

Influence standards development

Develop long term wireless technology roadmaps

Stay abreast of global activities and the competitor environment

Establish dimensioning assumptions as input to network cost modelling and proof of concept trials

Convey capabilities across business and product planning teams as input to an overall business model

Establish synergies with other Bell teams

Produce technical documentation for Wireless Technology Development.

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

Minimum of 7-10 years in wireless telecommunications experience

University degree in Computer/Electrical/Systems Design Engineering

Experience within global and/or Canadian industry forums

Overall system knowledge across radio, IP, transport & cloud domains

Knowledge of current and future end-to-end wireless network architectures, IP networking and protocols and service enablers

Knowledge of radio systems; modulation schemes, antenna techniques, protocols such as LTE and 5G and spectrum management.

Strong technical leadership and time management

Strong analytical and communication

Ability to prioritize work in a fast paced and changing environment

Proven ability to influence positively and engage cross-functional stakeholders effectively to get things done

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

Sound understanding of financial accounting principals

1-3 years of financial modeling experience

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
