Senior Advisers bring specialist and generic skills that enable them to work in a dynamic environment providing strategic and executive services to DPMC and the National Emergency Management Agency ('NEMA' - a departmental agency hosted by DPMC). Proactive engagement, good people skills, excellent organisation and follow through are essential parts of the role. 

As a Senior Adviser (procurement), you will:

  • support the direction, development and implementation of procurement strategies, systems, processes and tools
  • shape procurement solutions which maximise the benefits and outcomes that DPMC and NEMA receive from their expenditure
  • lead and support the development and implementation of initiatives focussed on organisational priorities and ensure contracts and procurement meet the needs of DPMC and NEMA
  • provide advice to meet DPMC and NEMA's procurement reporting requirements
  • contribute to the overall performance of DPMC and NEMA by providing proactive, high quality procurement advice to drive value for money outcomes across the department, with an overall aim of embedding a culture of efficient and effective purchasing within department
  • coordinate the agreement of contract terms and contract signing
  • carrying out analysis of benchmark data to drive better commercial outcomes
  • contract manage DPMC and NEMA's supplier panel contracts and ensure supplier performance is being managed and reported appropriately

 In addition, the role will include working with other teams in SGE, including, review of corporate policies, supporting Select Committee, Annual Review and business planning processes. It may also involve leading discrete projects for SGE, as required.

  • Good commercial nous - an understanding of what drives good service value and how to identify and minimise key commercial risks
  • Technical proficiency and experience in coordinating end-to-end procurement processes, including the application of and compliance with the Government Procurement Rules
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting
  • The ability to prioritise and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Confident, with the ability to build, maintain and leverage relationships at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
