Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

You will also be responsible for supporting the design, implementation and maintenance of geospatial applications and systems. You will also need to apply your skills in aiding the development of the policies, governance, and procedures that will enable their use and enhance geospatial capability across the Emergency Management sector.

The position sits within the National Operations Business Unit. They are responsible for the operational systems, arrangements, facilities and infrastructure of NEMA and New Zealand's emergency management system.

Ko wai koe | About you

We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:

  • Expert development skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and backend technologies (NodeJS, REST API design).
  • Significant experience developing geospatial web applications (non-template built), dashboards and other information products.
  • Experience with continuous integration technologies in an agile environment.
  • Experience in software testing and quality assurance methodologies.
  • Strong technical skills in database management with relational databases, Microsoft SQL Server and ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Strong knowledge of REST API and web services (ESRI Rest API in particular).
  • Knowledge of data protection in software and data governance.
  • Experience writing and maintaining technical documentation.

Key requirements:

  • Development of geospatial web services and applications for emergency management.
  • Manage associated databases, and administrate geospatial systems used in emergency management.
  • Perform configuration, customisation and administration of the geospatial platform, specifically ESRI ArcGIS suite.
  • Perform analytics and data management with ArcGIS the suite and SAFE FME.
  • Execute software test cases (manual or automated) and document the analysed results.
  • Improve accessibility, discoverability and availability of geospatial datasets, sources and products for key stakeholders across the spectrum of emergency management.
  • Maintain metadata and technical documentation with a view on data protection and data governance best practice.
