We're looking for an outstanding individual to join our dynamic team working within Capability Development in a leading Emergency Management Agency.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership to New Zealand's distributed emergency management system. NEMA's primary focus is on the performance and capability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

In this role you will be working as an integral team member contributing to delivering  the Emergency Management Capability Development Plan through supporting the evolution of the training architecture to meet the variable needs of  emergency management workforces.  This involves being flexible and solutions focused and developing a  range of content, experiences and products including kanohi ki te kanohi and  virtual modules.  You will apply end to end implementation design along with instructional design and work with a fabulous group of stakeholders. A feature of the mahi is to apply  learnings from emergency responses and findings from exercises  to support paid and volunteer staff to grow their ability, understanding and interoperability.

The position sits with the System Capability Unit that is responsible for leading the identification, design and implementation of strategies that will build the capability, capacity and resilience of the emergency management system across New Zealand. This includes the importance of exercises to test current state, apply lessons learnt and assure readiness.

We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:

  • A relevant body of knowledge and experience
  • Experience in developing training architecture and/or instructional design and demonstrated experience in acquiring, adapting, designing and developing learning and assessment products and implementation end to end design
  • Ideally significant experience in delivering and facilitating training sessions
  • Experience working with evaluation and continuous improvement processes
  • Able to apply strategic and operational lens when designing and planning, with a proven ability to establish achievable and well sequenced milestones and KPIs
  • Experience in persuading, inquiring, influencing, building and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships
  • Experienced in acquiring, adapting or developing new content and translating it to meet different audience needs
  • Experience of working with unit standards, assessments and moderation
  • Intermediate level experience in the Articulate suite
  • Relevant experience in a similar senior level role working in a collaborative, complex, fast changing and high-pressured environment
  • Experience in delivering agile and innovative solutions that also meet national standards
  • Experience working with networks, business and/or community groups, Central and/or Local Government
  • Experience in contract and project management
  • Personal commitment to understanding and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori

The salary range for this role is $94,716 - $111,431 per annum including employer Kiwisaver contributions.

Due to the security requirements of this role, applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident.
